About Coach Mike
Coach Mike Davis has been coaching and/or officiating youth sports for over 30 years. His first coaching spot was as an assistant coach of his cousin's little league team in Phoenix AZ. Mike believes that every child should have the opportunity to play a sport and coaches should teach the basics at the young ages. It's not enough to just make sure the kids get playing time, each child should learn each position. Teach first, win later is the Kidz N Sports mantra.
Mike has taken his positive attitude to the high school level where he brought success to two struggling softball programs, taking each from last place in league to within a game of reaching CIF playoffs.
Coach Mike is also an accomplished speaker having spoken to businesses, teachers, and church groups. Mike is a member of Toastmasters Club 9 and an active participant in Founders' District Speaker's Bureau. Mike also serves as the Membership Co-Chair for Downey ProNetworkers. 2003-2006 Newport Harbor High School, Newport Beach, CA Head Varsity Softball Coach
2006 - Set recent school record with 4-5-1, 4th place finish in powerful Sea View League, including a 8 inning, 1-1 tie with Woodbridge.2002 - Despite 5th place finish, Harbor just missed an At Large berth in CIF playoffs . The final game, a 12 inning 2-1 loss to Woodbridge kept the tars from CIF playoffs.The Lady Sailors also took 2nd place in the Cypress Tournament.
